The Philippine Pharmaceutical Directory (PPD) is a comprehensive listing of pharmaceutical drugs available in the Philippines. Annually reviewed by a competent and highly technical editorial staff, PPD information is accurate and up-to-date.

PPD is a rich source of information on drugs, its indication, dosage, contraindication, precaution, side effects, drug interactions, forms, packaging, and price. It provides a list of newly launched products available in the market. PPD also contains charts on drug interactions, measurement conversion tables, and a list of antidotes that are useful in everyday clinic practice.

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is the national health product regulatory agency created by Republic Act (RA3720), as amended by Executive Order No. 175 and RA 9711. FDA regulates the drugs, medical devices, food, cosmetics and toys, and Household/Urban Hazardous substances. THE FDA is responsible for safeguarding public health and safety. It protects the public health through the enforcement of standards.

The International Probiotics Association (IPA) is a global non-profit organization bringing together through its membership, the probiotic sector’s stakeholders including but not limited to academia, scientists, health care professionals, consumers, industry and regulators. The IPA’s mission is to promote the safe and efficacious use of probiotics throughout the world. Holding NGO status before Codex Alimentarius, the IPA is also recognized as the unified Global Voice of Probiotics® around the world.

Additionally, the IPA will work with government bodies and industry to assist in establishing scientific standards for probiotic supplements, probiotic pharmaceutical products and functional foods. IPA will educate consumers on the proven health benefits of probiotics for humans and animals by attending trade shows, health tours/walks and other media functions. IPA promises to always put forth timely, unbiased information to every interested party, and share the documented benefits of probiotics to its international forum of members.

The Halal food Authority rules for halal are based on Islamic Shari’ah. Opposite to halal is haram, which means unlawful or forbidden.

It is well known in the meat trade that Muslims consume halal meat. However, at times questions are asked, what is halal? In Arabic it simply means permissible or allowed. Opposite to it is haram, which means forbidden or not allowed. Arabic is the language of Qur`an, a scripture revealed to the Holy Prophet of Islam by the Almighty Allah to be followed in its entirety by the Muslims.
